As tempting as it may be, when an employee is on an FMLA leave, you can't demand that he or she come back to work; even if you offer to make a reasonable accommodation, like a flexible schedule or assignment to light duty work.

Things to remember regarding the FMLA: You cannot demand someone to return work, you cannot inquire on the employees condition, employees have the right to return to the same role, you cannot hold an employees’ FMLA against them, and employees’ should never be harassed.
